Cotton is a vegetable fibre that grows on the cotton plant. The fibre can be broken down into:

Besides this, there are also several species of “wild cotton” or cotton that grows uncultivated. Many such species have been found in Australia, Africa, United States, Brazil, Mexico and other tropical countries.

It is difficult to refine wild cotton and so is not economically feasible for use.

In cotton, there is also another classification that is made with reference to the way the crop is cultivated. Organic cotton is cotton that is grown without the use of chemical pesticides or herbicides. GM cotton is genetically modified cotton grown from seeds whose DNA has been genetically altered. Conventional cotton is ordinary cotton that is conventionally grown. One thing though is common; all these kinds of cotton are naturally natural.
